2 arrested after separate Minneapolis business burglaries
Two separate burglaries just hours apart from each other ended with two people in custody early Wednesday morning.
According to Minneapolis police, officers were first called to the 500 block of West Broadway around 3:15 a.m. for a report of a business burglary.
When officers arrived, they found one person inside a store in the area, and a foot chase began.
Shortly after, police say a 24-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into the Hennepin County Jail on a burglary charge.
Officers were later called to the 2600 block of Nicollet around 5:15 a.m. for a business burglary that was in progress.
As police arrived, they found a man carrying a cash register, who then ran away after officers tried contacting him.
Police followed the man, and tried to use a stun gun, but it didn’t have an effect. The man resisted arrest, according to police, and tried to assault an officer.
Officials say the 19-year-old man was taken to Hennepin Health for a medical evaluation for a drug-related issue, and was then booked into the Hennepin County Jail on a burglary charge.
The businesses involved during the burglaries weren’t immediately identified by police.
