11-week-old dies at hospital days after Crow Wing County crash

An 11-week-old has died following a crash that happened in Crow Wing County last month.

According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, the 11-week-old died from injuries he suffered in the crash that took place on Aug. 13.

The Minnesota State Patrol crash report states that at about 5:58 p.m., a Ford Expedition was traveling northbound on Highway 6 at Katrine Drive.

A 51-year-old woman, from Stacy, was driving the Ford with the 11-week-old inside the vehicle. While a Buick Lacrosse was traveling southbound on the same highway, the Ford drifted over the center line and caused a crash with the Buick.

The 11-week-old was taken to Children’s Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis and died four days later from his injuries.

The other occupants in the Buick suffered injuries that aren’t considered to be life-threatening.

Police are investigating the crash.
