1 victim injured in Moorhead after a shooting; police searching for suspect
A 19-year-old victim suffered from a gunshot wound early Saturday morning at a party in Moorhead.
According to the Moorhead Police Department, at 12:52 a.m., officers were sent to the area of 1200 block of 5th Street on a report of a loud party. As officers were responding to the call, there was a shooting report in the same location.
Once officers arrived at the scene, they witnessed numerous people running from the scene. Several students were stopped and a 19-year-old male victim from Nebraska with a gunshot wound to the leg was located, said police.
According to police, one of the officers immediately rendered aid to the victim and he was later transported to Essentia Hospital for treatment.
Police said the suspect is described as a Black or Hispanic male with dreadlocks to his shoulder and a pencil-thin mustache. He was with several other males and all of them were wearing black Adidas clothing.
Police do not know if the suspect and the group were at the loud party. Concordia College Security was later notified about the incident and suspect.
The Moorhead Police Department is looking for any additional information from anyone who may have been at the scene and has more details regarding the suspect and/or any vehicles that may have left the area.
Police are asking those who went to the party to look at any photos they might have taken to see if the suspect is visible in them. People are to call the Moorhead Police Departments’s dispatch center at 701-451-7660 and ask to speak with the supervisor.
