1 killed, 6 injured in Benton County crash
A crash in Benton County on Sunday left one man dead and six others injured.
A Minnesota State Patrol crash report states, at 1:50 p.m., a 2011 Ford Fusion was headed west on Highway 23 in Foley when it crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2014 Ford Fusion near 13th Avenue North.
The driver of the eastbound 2014 Fusion was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by the State Patrol as 55-year-old Bruce George Varner, of Sauk Rapids.
The two passengers in the 2014 Fusion were injured — one with life-threatening injuries, one with non-life-threatening injuries — and taken to a hospital.
The four people in the 2011 Fusion all suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were also taken to a hospital for treatment.
It’s unclear what caused the crash, which remains under investigation.
