1 dead after rollover UTV crash in Douglas County

Authorities are investigating a fatal utility terrain vehicle crash Tuesday evening, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, passersby called around 7:45 p.m. for a person trapped under a UTV that had rolled over in the ditch.

The callers rolled the UTV off the person and attempted life-saving measures, authorities say, adding the person died at the scene shortly after.

The Sheriff’s Office says initial information indicates the UTV was traveling south on Wild Rose Lane south of Highway 27 when it left the roadway and rolled over in the ditch.

The location information given appears to place the crash in Holmes City Township, near Holmes City.

No further information has been provided about the victim at this time.
