1 dead, 4 injured after Stearns County crash

One person is dead and four people are injured following a head-on crash around 8:20 a.m. Saturday in Stearns County, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.

Early information indicates a minivan with two occupants and a cargo van with three occupants were traveling opposite directions on Highway 23 when they collided within Munson Township.

The State Patrol listed road conditions as wet at the time but did not specify what factors contributed to the crash.

The driver of the minivan, 50-year-old Lana Renae Tibodeau of Windom, died at the scene.

The passenger in her minivan, a 15-year-old boy from Windom, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries in St. Cloud.

The three people in the cargo van, described as three men in their 20s of unknown residence, were also treated in St. Cloud for non-life-threatening injuries.

As of posting, the State Patrol has not listed alcohol or failure to wear a seatbelt as factors in the incident. Both of the vehicles’ airbags deployed.
