1 dead, 1 injured in Minneapolis shooting

The Minneapolis Police Department responded to a shooting that left one victim dead and another injured Wednesday evening. 

According to police, at 7:56 p.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter notification in the area of 14th Avenue South and E 24th Street. While en route to the scene, multiple 911 callers said that two people had been shot.

Once arrived at the scene, officers found a male believed to be in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound, in grave condition and another victim, an adult male located about a block and a half away suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police reported. 

Both victims were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center, where the most severe victim died. The other victim was admitted in serious condition. 

2 shot, 1 dead in Phillips Neighborhood in Minneapolis

The preliminary investigation indicates that there was an altercation between two parties and gunshots were fired. The suspect fled before police arrived. Investigators are still piecing together what role each of the victims played in this incident.

The identity of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office in the coming days.
