1 dead, 1 injured after 2 motorcycles leave road in Stearns County
One motorcyclist is dead and another is injured after a crash Sunday afternoon south of Melrose, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says.
Deputies were en route at around 2:18 p.m. to what they believed was a single-motorcycle crash when they learned that a second motorcycle was involved in the crash and both drivers were injured.
At the scene on County Road 13, just south of 360th Street in Grove Township, deputies learned the motorcycles were both traveling south when they went off the road and into the ditch where the road curves.
The sheriff says 43-year-old Aaron Schlingmann from Janesville was taken to Melrose Hospital, where he died shortly after arrival.
The second driver, a 45-year-old man from Owatonna, was taken to the hospital for injuries the sheriff says are not life-threatening.
Neither man was wearing a helmet, according to the report.
Authorities are investigating. No further information about the cause of the crash is available at this time.
