A suspect was arrested early Wednesday morning after a stolen vehicle pursuit and a foot chase on Interstate 94 in Woodbury.
According to Woodbury Police, officers were called to the 2000 block of Lamplight Drive at 4:10 a.m. on a report of vehicle tampering happening in a residential neighborhood.
The first officer at the scene saw a suspect vehicle leaving the area and, upon checking the license plate, learned the vehicle was stolen. The officer initiated a traffic stop but the suspect fled, starting a pursuit.
Police said the Minnesota State Patrol used stop sticks when the pursuit moved onto I-94, which disabled the vehicle. However, the driver continued until a Woodbury officer initiated a PIT maneuver on I-94 in Minneapolis, disabling the vehicle.
The lone person in the vehicle then was seen on Minnesota Department of Transportation traffic cameras getting out of the vehicle, running over a lane of traffic and narrowly avoiding a vehicle before running off the highway.
Police said officers later caught up to the suspect and took him into custody. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
No other information was immediately available.
