Mauer, Morneau to be featured in upcoming ‘MLB The Show’ video game

Two Minnesota Twins legends are returning to baseball this year — virtually.

On Wednesday, video game developer San Diego Studio announced Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau will be new “legends” in the upcoming “MLB The Show 22.”

Morneau joined the Twins in 2003, and Mauer was called up a year later. They dominated the American League Central, winning four division championships during their decade as teammates. Morneau was on the roster for a fifth division championship in 2003.

Morneau was voted AL MVP in 2006 and was named to four straight All-Star teams from 2007-10. Mauer was a six-time All-Star and won AL MVP in 2009; he went on to be the “MLB The Show” cover athlete the next year.

The Twins retired Mauer’s number in 2019, and Morneau was added to the Twins Hall of Fame last year.

“MLB The Show 22” will be available on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles on April 5.
