MSP Airport raises minimum wage to $15

Minimum wage at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport will be increased to $15 per hour.

According to a release from SEIU Local 26, a union that represents MSP workers, the Metropolitan Airports Commission voted Monday afternoon to increase the minimum wage at the airport to $15 per hour.

The commissioners voted unanimously to pass the policy.

Many workers are making the current airport minimum wage of $11 per hour, according to the release.

The minimum wage will increase to $13.25 on Jan. 1, 2021, $14.25 by July 1, 2021, and $15 on July 1, 2022.

"After years of fighting, after rallies, protests, meetings, hearings and more, today we have a vote to raise the minimum wage at the MSP Airport to $15 per hour. This is an important step towards making sure this wonderful airport, which has won so many awards, is a place where everyone who helps make it run is treated with the respect we deserve," said Glen Brown, a wheelchair agent at MSP.
