Minnesota Orchestra announces cancellations, phased reopening

The Minnesota Orchestra on Tuesday announced the cancellation of all full-orchestra concerts in August and early September but also unveiled a phased return plan.

The orchestra said the August and early September events scheduled to take place inside Orchestra Hall aren’t in compliance with the "Stay Safe MN" guidelines for large events amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Those events, scheduled from Aug. 3, 2020, through Sept. 5, 2020, have been canceled for those safety reasons.

In place of the canceled concerts, the Orchestra announced a phased return to live concerts beginning with 24 newly-programmed chamber music concerts outside Orchestra Hall on Peavey Plaza.

Those events will take place throughout the month of August, and are offered as a complimentary performance for concertgoers who had tickets to the canceled August and September shows.

The Minnesota Orchestra also said those with tickets for the canceled shows will be contacted directly with a range of ticket and credit options for those canceled concerts, as well as an invitation to attend the outdoor performances.

Due to limited capacity, tickets won’t be available for purchase for the chamber performances but a small number of complimentary tickets will be made available to the public through an online lottery system. You can find more information on that here.
