MiniMed insulin pumps recalled over incorrect dosing problem
Medtronic MiniMed insulin pumps are being recalled due to an issue that can lead to incorrect dosing.
The affected pumps include the MiniMed 630G and MiniMed 670G. The recall affects 322,055 devices.
The FDA said the Model 630G was distributed from September 2016 through October 2019 while the Model 670G was distributed from June 2017 through August 2019
The exact issue relates to missing or broken retainer rings, which help lock the insulin cartridge into place in the pump's reservoir compartment.
Medtronic said more than 2,000 people have been injured due to the issue and one person died.
Anyone who uses an affected pump is urged to examine the ring of their pump, stop using it and contact Medtronic Technical Support at 877-585-0166.
