Famous Dave's parent company to purchase Granite City

The parent company of a barbecue chain is set to purchase the bankrupt Granite City restaurant chain.

Last week, BBQ Holdings, Inc. announced that it was purchasing Granite City Food and Brewery, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December to reorganize its business.

"This meaningfully accretive acquisition of Granite City Food and Brewery aligns with our strategy to accelerate growth and expansion as a multi-brand restaurant company," Jeff Crivello, Chief Executive Officer of BBQ Holdings, said in a news release. "As an award-winning concept, Granite City is a fantastic addition to the BBQ Holdings family, and we look forward to the synergies we can create between multiple brands."

Crivello said BBQ Holdings, which has been developing new format stores and brands, will add items from Famous Dave's BBQ to the Granite City menu "where we feel appropriate."

BBQ Holdings, Inc. is the parent company of several barbecue restaurants, including Famous Dave's. Sioux Falls has both a Famous Dave's location and a Granite City location.
