Bachman’s sues insurance company for not covering losses during pandemic
Bachman’s, Inc., has filed a lawsuit against an insurance company after the company allegedly denied Bachman’s claim for losses during the pandemic.
According to the lawsuit filed last week in Hennepin County District Court, Bachman’s purchased an insurance policy from Florists’ Mutual Insurance Company to cover losses suffered under a business interruption. The lawsuit states the policy was purchased to cover the 12 months following Feb. 1, 2020 with a payment limit of $10 million. It also covered "special causes of loss," according to Bachman’s.
Bachman’s closed its stores on March 20 before garden portions of stores were allowed to reopen on April 11 and floral and gift areas on May 21.
The lawsuit states Florists’ Mutual denied Bachman’s claim on April 27.
The filing didn’t say how much Bachman’s lost during its shutdown.
