Minnesota flu-related death toll rises to 48, MDH says
Six more people have died from flu-related illnesses in Minnesota, according to the latest weekly flu report from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
With those deaths, 48 people have now died this season from flu-related illnesses, including one pediatric death. The median age of those who’ve died is 74.5.
Hospitalizations increased this past week again, with 249 hospitalizations reported across the state, up slightly from the previous week. At least 1,951 people have been hospitalized with flu-related illnesses this season in Minnesota.
MDH reports 6 more flu-related deaths
MDH’s report noted a slight decrease in the number of new school outbreaks, but 73 were still reported this past week, pushing the total to 698 this season.
Much of the country still reports high flu activity numbers, including Minnesota where the flu is still considered widespread.
