MDH reports 3 flu-related deaths in last week
Three people died from flu-related illnesses in Minnesota last week, according to the Minnesota Department of Health’s (MDH) latest flu activity report. The total number of flu-related deaths in the state now stands at 148, including three pediatric deaths.
After three consecutive weeks of the influenza spread being downgraded in Minnesota, it remained at "sporadic" last week, according to health officials.
Flu activity across the rest of the country continues to be downgraded, with only a dozen states still reporting influenza as widespread.
The number of flu-related hospitalizations continues to drop, with just three reported in the past week. At least 4,085 people have been hospitalized in the state due to flu-related illnesses this flu season, which is up from 2,543 last year but lower than the 2017-2018 flu season (6,446).
