MDH confirms 7 more positive COVID-19 cases in state, 21 total

Seven more cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Minnesota.

The Minnesota Department of Health announced Saturday that a total of 21 cases have now been confirmed in the state.

Those cases have been identified in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Olmsted, Ramsey, Renville, Stearns and Wright counties.

According to MDH, the seven new cases include three people in their 60s; one from Steans county and two from Hennepin. Three people are in their 30s; one from Ramsey, Hennepin, and Renville. Then lastly, one teen has tested positive from Dakota county.

All cases had a direct link to someone who has traveled or they themselves have traveled.

MDH also said they are resisting any changes to the guidance on school closures even with one teen who tested positive. They believe the closing of schools won’t make much of a difference in community mitigation.

Kris Ehresmann, director of infectious disease for MDH, said people should still "live their life" and they are not telling malls, shops or restaurants to shut down.

According to MDH, an approximate total of 868 patients have been tested for COVID-19.
