Eden Prairie company teaming up to 3D print nasal swabs for health care providers

As states push for more coronavirus testing, the demand for nasal swabs continues to rise and one Eden Prairie company is helping fill the need.

3D printing company Stratasys is teaming up with a San Francisco company to 3D print nasal swabs.

Within the next month, they plan on producing over a million swabs a week.

"This week we will produce 250,000 nasal swabs," Stratasys healthcare leader Scott Drikakis said. "In two weeks we will be producing a half a million, and within three to four weeks we will be producing over a million swabs a week."

The new nasal swabs will be shipped out across the country and the state.

"We have produced and distributed some of them for the University of Minnesota, to Mayo Clinic, to Allina, to the Fairview Health System," Drikakis said.

In March, Stratasys started 3D printing thousands of face shields for healthcare providers.
