Delta, American Airlines suspend US flights to China out of concern over coronavirus

Delta Air Lines and American Airlines announced Friday they will both suspend all flights from the United States to China out of concern over the coronavirus outbreak.

Delta’s temporary suspension is in effect from Feb. 6 to April 30, according to the airline.

Delta will continue to operate flights to China through Feb. 5 to ensure customers can exit the country.

Airline officials said they will monitor the situation closely and may make adjustments.

People whose travel plans may be affected by the decision can go to the "My Trips" section on the airline’s website to learn more about their options.

Delta operates about 42 weekly flights between the U.S. and China, according to officials.

American Airlines’ suspension goes into effect Friday. It will remain in effect until March 27.

American Airlines will contact affected customers directly.
