U of M: At least 70% of classes set to be held online or remotely
More than two-thirds of all classes at the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus will be held online this fall, the university confirmed.
Out of approximately 8,900 classes being offered in the upcoming semester, 6,254 of them — about 70% — were set to be held online or remotely as of Tuesday. Another 2,655 classes have been assigned a classroom for in-person learning.
About 60% of all students attending the Twin Cities campus will have at least one in-person or hybrid format class this fall, a university spokesperson said.
U of M moving forward with in-person student plans for fall semester
Students still have the ability to change class formats before the semester starts.
Adhering to the recommended 6-foot distancing guidelines put forth by the Minnesota Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will limit the U of M’s classroom capacity to about one-quarter of previous instruction space.
All students, staff and faculty will be required to wear face coverings on campus, and all students will be provided with face masks in August, according to an email sent from Vice Provost Bob McMaster earlier this week.
