State health department reports 39 COVID-19 deaths, 1,154 positive cases

The Minnesota Department of Health reported a total of 1,154 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state Wednesday, adding 85 more cases than those reported Tuesday.

Thirty-nine total deaths have also been reported, with five additional deaths reported Wednesday.

The department stated, as of Wednesday, the state has completed 9,012 tests and private labs have completed 21,741 tests, a total of 30,753.

Of the cases in Minnesota, 271 have needed hospitalization, and 135 of those patients are still in the hospital.

According to MDH, 632 patients no longer need isolation.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected about 1.4 million people worldwide and killed about 83,000.

More than 308,200 people have recovered as of Wednesday.
