St. Paul playgrounds, sports courts, skate parks close amid pandemic
The city of St. Paul on Wednesday announced the closure of playgrounds, sports courts and skate parks after Gov. Tim Walz extended the state’s ‘stay at home order.’
According to the city, the closures were made due to the recent seasonal increase in demand for use of the amenities and concern over public safety because of the lack of social distancing possibilities during the activities.
The city said basketball hoops will be removed, tennis courts will be locked and closure signage will be posted at playgrounds.
However, parks, trails, athletic fields and other open spaces will remain open as long as social distancing is followed by those who use them.
