Roseville, Bemidji approve mask mandates

Bemidji and Roseville are the latest Minnesota cities to pass mask mandates amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Roseville City Council voted Monday night to amend existing declarations related to the pandemic to require face coverings in indoor areas accessible to the public.

Roseville’s mask requirement goes into effect Monday, July 27.

Bemidji Mayor Rita Albrecht then amended the city’s local emergency to require face masks beginning immediately. However, the order would’ve expired after just three days, so the city council then voted 3-1, with one member abstaining, to extend the mask order.

The extension runs through the end of the year unless ended earlier by the city council or state government.
