Robbinsdale Area Schools closed Friday

Robbinsdale Area Schools will close Friday due to concerns over novel coronavirus (COVID-19.)

In a post Friday morning, district officials said in addition to all classes being canceled Friday, Adventure Club sites would close, early childhood and ECFE classes and events would be canceled and Adult Academic Program classes would be canceled.

After-school activities and sports have also been canceled Friday, according to district officials.

In a letter sent to parents, school district officials said a parent contacted Forest Elementary administrators to inform staff they had come into contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19.

Although that parent is not displaying symptoms, school officials are working to clean and sanitize that school, the letter states.

Currently, the Minnesota Department of Health is recommending schools remain open during the outbreak. MDH officials said global data shows individuals under the age of 19 are at a lower risk, and only 2 percent of the confirmed cases of the disease have occurred in that age group.
