Nickelodeon Universe at Mall of America reopened Monday morning with some safety changes amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The park reopened at 11 a.m.

Capacity is limited to a maximum of 250 people at one time, and only one entry point to the park will be open. Floor markings for social distancing have also been installed.

Special two-hour unlimited ride passes will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and will be sold on-site only at the Nickelodeon Shop.

"With the reduced capacity, you’ll be able to go on a lot of rides in two hours," said MOA spokesperson Chris Grap.

Guests ages 3 and up will be required to wear face masks at all times, including the duration of each attraction, to cover the nose and mouth. Children ages 2 and under, and people with special medical conditions, are exempt from this requirement.

On Monday, the park reached its maximum capacity at 11:17. Guests who arrived after that were put in a "virtual que" and texted when they could enter the park.

Inside the park, guests have to santize their hands before and after every ride. Each ride is cleaned between every cycle as well.

The masks are uncomfortable, but the hand santitzer rule seems to be working good. I wish the bumper cars were open, but I definitely feel safe," said Reiner Stokes who was visiting with his family from Chicago.
