New nasal swab COVID-19 testing site opens in Mall of America parking lot

Friday, people in the metro have a new place to go for COVID-19 testing.

Health Gauge is the company behind the drive-thru operation at Mall of America’s far north parking lot.

The company reports local health officials will be conducting "less invasive" nasal swab tests and those administering the tests claim results can be ready in less than half an hour.

Unlike the state-run testing sites, which are free, these tests are $99 per person. Health Gauge states those interested can check with their insurance providers for potential coverage.

The testing site opened at 8 a.m. Friday and will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. as well as Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
