As of Monday, more stores are requiring customers to wear masks to try and stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Shoppers will need a face covering at Kowalski’s, CVS, Caribou Coffee and Walmart, among others.

Where face masks are required in Minnesota

Face coverings requirements have caused fights at stores across the country.

Jesse Makela is a branch manager at JBM Patrol & Protection. The Edina security company has officers at retail stores across the metro.

"Tempers rise," Makela said. "I don’t like the confrontation. I don’t like getting yelled at. The managers are going to rely on the security officers and say, ‘You’re here to protect our store.’ Does that include enforcing people to wear masks? That’s that grey area."

Target will start requiring nearly all customers to wear masks on Aug. 1.
