Milwaukee, Madison to open self-isolation centers for COVID-19 patients
Two major Wisconsin cities are opening self-isolation centers on Wednesday as the coronavirus pandemic intensifies across the state.
Makeshift facilities in Milwaukee and Madison will take in patients with confirmed but mild cases of COVID-19 or people who have been discharged from the hospital and need to avoid their homes to avoid transmitting the virus to others.
As of Tuesday, Wisconsin had 1,417 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 26 deaths, according to ABC affiliate WISN.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services said at least 17,375 tests had come back negative so far and that 53% of all cases are among those 50 years of age and older.
