MDH reports 769 new cases of COVID-19, 8 more deaths

The Minnesota Department of Health on Sunday reported 769 more cases of COVID-19, bringing the state’s total to 55,947.
State health officials also reported eight more deaths. So far 1,614 Minnesotans have died from the coronavirus, including 1,231 in long-term care or assisted living facilities, according to MDH statistics.
Health labs have completed nearly 1.1 million tests to date, according to the MDH.
As of Sunday, 302 patients were in the hospital for COVID-19, and 149 were in intensive care. So far 5,241 patients have required hospitalization, according to the MDH.
To date, 48,847 Minnesotans are recovering from the virus and no longer need to be isolated. MDH is now reporting that the number of patients who no longer need isolation represents individuals with confirmed COVID-19 who no longer need to self-isolate. That number "does not include those who have died; the cumulative number was adjusted to reflect that change."
According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 17.8 million people worldwide and killed about 679,407.
About 10.6 million people worldwide have recovered as of Sunday.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
