MDH: 92 new COVID-19 deaths, 6,166 cases reported Thursday
The Minnesota Department of Health on Thursday reported 92 new deaths from COVID-19, as well as 6,166 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests.
Of the 6,166 newly reported cases, 391 of them are noted as probable cases, according to the MDH. A total of 7,562 probable cases have been reported since antigen testing began in September.
So far, 3,784 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota. Eighty-three of those deaths are also listed as probable COVID-19 deaths. Of the total deaths reported as of Thursday, 2,522 were in long-term care facilities.
To date, 17,623 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized in Minnesota and 3,911 patients have been in the ICU.
In a new update Thursday, HealthPartners provided data on its system hospitalizations. According to the health care system, as of Thursday morning, there were 211 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 and 22 patients were admitted to system hospitals for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, HealthPartners reports 92% of its medical/surgical hospital beds are occupied while 87% of its intensive care unit beds are occupied.
Back at the state level, according to MDH, the new positive COVID-19 cases in Minnesota reported on Thursday moved the state’s total to 333,626 since pandemic record-keeping began.
A total of 290,019 patients have recovered or are recovering and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.
As of Thursday, nearly 4.4 million COVID-19 tests have been completed in Minnesota.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 64.6 million people worldwide and killed over 1.4 million people.
About 41.6 million people worldwide have recovered as of Thursday.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report a loss of smell and/or taste and having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
