MDH: 723 new COVID-19 cases reported in Minnesota, 26 new deaths
Friday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 723 new positive COVID-19 cases and 26 new deaths, pushing the state’s totals to 10,088 cases and 534 deaths.
The department stated, as of Friday, the state has completed 14,397 tests and private labs have completed 86,873 tests.
Of the total cases, 1,549 have required hospitalization. As of Friday, 473 were hospitalized, with 198 in intensive care.
According to MDH, 5,697 patients no longer need to be isolated. MDH is now reporting that the number of patients who no longer need isolation represents individuals with confirmed COVID-19 who no longer need to self-isolate, including those who have died.
According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected about 3.8 million people worldwide and killed about 270,000. About 1.2 million people worldwide have recovered as of Friday.
