MDH: 6 new COVID-19 deaths in Minnesota, 50 new hospitalizations

Wednesday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported six new deaths from COVID-19, as well as 50 more hospitalizations.

So far, 1,985 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota, including 1,433 in long-term care and assisted living facilities.

As of Wednesday, 303 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and 148 were in intensive care. To date, 7,303 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized in Minnesota.

According to MDH, there were 690 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota on Wednesday, bringing the state’s total to 92,100 since pandemic record-keeping began.

A total of 83,507 patients have recovered, or are recovering, and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.

As of Wednesday, approximately 1.8 million tests have been completed in Minnesota and 1.3 million people have been tested.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 31.6 million people worldwide and killed about 972,100 people.

About 21.7 million people worldwide have recovered as of Wednesday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
