As people slowly start heading back into the office, high-rise building owners in downtown Minneapolis are preparing a safety social distancing plan.
Some buildings are only allowing a few people on an elevator at a time. They’ve placed markings on the floor where people should stand on an elevator.
The Minneapolis Downtown Council says buildings are also adding extra cleaning crews.

"We are seeing a heavy emphasis on wiping down surfaces, including elevator buttons, and door handles, and escalator handles," president of Minneapolis Downtown Council Steve Cramer said. "So all of those steps will go into the equation of how buildings are going to reopen. A lot of very intense conversations going on right now. A lot of learning of what are best practices around the country, still trying to seek guidance from public health authorities."
The Minneapolis Downtown Council says only 5 to 10% of people are working in offices right now, but that number is expected to grow over the next month.
