DEED extends unemployment insurance by 13 weeks
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) announced on Wednesday it has implemented the Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation, which allows for a 13-week extension of employment benefits.
"Approximately 8,000 people have exhausted or will soon exhaust their Minnesota unemployment insurance benefits," DEED Commissioner Steve Grove said in a statement. "With PEUC fully implemented, those individuals will now be eligible for an additional 13 weeks of unemployment insurance in addition to the $600 additional compensation payments we implemented last week."

Residents who have exhausted their unemployment benefits and are eligible for extended benefits should log into their accounts on the state’s unemployment insurance website.
The Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation was authorized in the coronavirus bill signed by Congress back in March.
