DEED Commissioner Grove joins KSTP to answer viewer questions about unemployment insurance

With many businesses and employees severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, applications for unemployment insurance (UI) have skyrocketed across the country. In Minnesota alone, more than 340,000 applications have been submitted since the middle of March.
Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) Commissioner Steve Grove joined 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS Midday Tuesday to answer some viewer questions about unemployment insurance, including topics such as covering reduced hours with UI, who is all eligible for financial help and whether benefits can be extended if they’ve already expired.
