COVID-19 in Wisconsin: Record-high 48 new deaths, 4,205 additional cases
Wednesday, Wisconsin health officials announced a new single-day record-high of 48 new deaths related to COVID-19, moving the state’s total to 1,681 deaths since the pandemic began.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services also reported 167 new hospitalizations, moving the total number of hospitalizations during the pandemic to 9,704.
The state also announced that the first person has been admitted to the Alternate Care Facility at Wisconsin State Fair Park which is being used as an overflow facility for area hospitals.
“We are thankful to have this facility available to Wisconsinites and our hospitals, but also saddened that this is where Wisconsin is at today,” said Gov. Evers. “Folks, please stay home. Help us protect our communities from this highly-contagious virus and avoid further strain on our hospitals.”
A total of 182,687 positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Wisconsin, with of 4,205 new cases reported Wednesday.

This comes after a weekend of suspended reporting of COVID-19 totals as the state’s computer system underwent an upgrade. DHS said because of the software upgrade, the numbers reported Tuesday "reflect COVID positive cases from multiple days."
As of Wednesday, DHS reports that 1,901,251 people have been tested in the state.
