COVID-19 in Wisconsin: 8 new deaths, 1,435 new cases

Monday, Wisconsin health officials announced eight new deaths related to COVID-19, moving the state’s total to 4,425 deaths since the pandemic began. That’s the fewest COVID-19 deaths reported in a single day in the state since Nov. 30, when six deaths were reported.

Additionally, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) reported 48 new hospitalizations, moving the total number of hospitalizations during the pandemic to 20,168.

A total of 458,612 positive cases of COVID-19 have now been confirmed in Wisconsin, with 1,435 new cases reported Monday. That’s the lowest single-day total of new cases reported since Nov. 27, when 1,300 cases were reported.

As of Monday, DHS reports that more than 2.75 million people have been tested in the state.

The state’s seven-day average positivity rate by person is at 26.5%.
