COVID-19 in Wisconsin: 40 new deaths as state surpasses 500K total cases

Wisconsin health officials on Friday announced 40 new deaths related to COVID-19, moving the state’s total to 5,119 deaths since the pandemic began.

Additionally, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) reported 136 new hospitalizations, moving the total number of hospitalizations during the pandemic to 22,206.

A total of 502,012 positive cases of COVID-19 have now been confirmed in Wisconsin, with 3,474 new cases reported Friday.

As of Friday, DHS reports that more than 2.89 million people have been tested in the state.

The state’s seven-day average positivity rate by person is at 29.8%.

DHS said the state has been allocated 420,200 vaccine doses, so far. Of those, 123,402 had been administered as of Friday.
