COVID-19 in Minnesota: MDH reports 13 new deaths, 32 new hospitalizations

Sunday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 13 new deaths from COVID-19, as well as 32 more hospitalizations.

So far, 1,919 people have died of coronavirus in Minnesota, including 1,398 in long-term care and assisted living facilities.

As of Sunday, 241 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and 136 were in intensive care. To date, 6,931 patients have been hospitalized in Minnesota.

According to MDH, there were 741 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota on Saturday, bringing the state’s total to 84,311 since pandemic record-keeping began.

A total of 77,461 patients have recovered, or are recovering, and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.

As of Sunday, approximately 1.7 million tests have been completed in Minnesota and over 1.2 million people have been tested.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 28.8 million people worldwide and killed about 921,022 people.

About 19.4 million people worldwide have recovered as of Sunday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
