COVID-19 in Minnesota: 7 new deaths, 46 hospitalizations reported

Wednesday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported seven new deaths from COVID-19, as well as 46 more hospitalizations.

So far, 1,830 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota, including 1,345 in long-term care and assisted living facilities.

As of Wednesday, 297 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and 135 were in intensive care. To date, 6,566 patients have been hospitalized in Minnesota.

According to MDH, there were 761 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota on Wednesday, bringing the state’s total to 77,085 since pandemic record-keeping began.

A total of 69,521 patients have recovered, or are recovering, and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.

As of Wednesday, approximately 1,525,555 tests have been completed in Minnesota and 1,150,854 people have been tested.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 25.7 million people worldwide and killed about 857,877 people.

More than 17 million people worldwide have recovered as of Wednesday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
