715 new cases of COVID-19, 3 more deaths reported in Minnesota
The Minnesota Department of Health reported 715 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, bringing the state’s total to 42,281.
Health officials also reported that three more patients had died from the virus. So far 1,502 Minnesotans have died from COVID-19. Of those, 1,171 were in long-term care facilities.
According to MDH, approximately 755,052 tests had been performed statewide as of Sunday.
MDH’s latest report shows there are 251 coronavirus patients in the hospital and 123 in intensive care. A total of 4,399 Minnesotans have been hospitalized with COVID-19 to date.
So far 36,562 patients are recovering and no longer need to be isolated. MDH is now reporting that the number of patients who no longer need isolation represents individuals with confirmed COVID-19 who no longer need to self-isolate. That number "does not include those who have died; the cumulative number was adjusted to reflect that change."
According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 12.7 million people worldwide and killed about 565,917.
More than 7.0 million people worldwide have recovered as of Sunday.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
Note: According to MDH — "Because all data are preliminary, the change in number of cumulative positive cases and deaths from one day to the next may not equal the newly reported cases or deaths."
