Minnesota sees 23 additional COVID-19 deaths, total cases reach 3,446

Saturday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported there are 261 new cases that have tested positive for COVID-19, creating a total of 3,446 cases in the state.

MDH reports 244 total deaths, with 23 additional deaths reported Saturday.

The department stated, as of Saturday, the state has completed 11,250 tests and private labs have completed 45,347 tests.

Of the total, 797 cases have required hospitalization.

According to MDH, 1,654 patients have recovered and no longer need to be isolated.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected about 2.8 million people worldwide and killed about 197,217.

More than 794,377 people worldwide have recovered as of Friday.

According to the CDC, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or diarrhea.
