COVID-19 in Minnesota: 7 new deaths, 32 hospitalizations reported

Wednesday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported seven new deaths from COVID-19, as well as 32 more hospitalizations.

So far, 1,869 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota, including 1,364 in long-term care and assisted living facilities.

As of Wednesday, 263 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and 137 were in intensive care. To date, 6,792 patients have been hospitalized in Minnesota.

According to MDH, there were 282 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota on Wednesday, bringing the state’s total to 81,868 since pandemic record-keeping began.

A total of 75,055 patients have recovered, or are recovering, and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.

As of Wednesday, approximately 1.6 million tests have been completed in Minnesota and 1.2 million people have been tested.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 27 million people worldwide and killed about 898,426 people.

About 18.5 million people worldwide have recovered as of Wednesday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
