COVID-19 in Minnesota: 4 new deaths, 31 hospitalizations
Friday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported four deaths from COVID-19, as well as 31 more hospitalizations.
So far, 1,810 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota, including 1,333 in long-term care and assisted living facilities.
As of Friday, 301 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and 137 were in intensive care. To date, 6,357 patients have needed hospitalization in Minnesota.
According to MDH, there were 862 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota Friday, bringing the state’s total to 73,240 since pandemic record-keeping began.
A total of 65,204 patients have recovered, or are recovering, and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.
As of Friday, approximately 1,443,344 tests have been completed in Minnesota and 1,101,710 people have been tested.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected nearly 24.4 million people worldwide and killed about 832,608.
More than 16 million people worldwide have recovered as of Friday.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
