Hy-Vee begins offering free full-service fueling amid pandemic
Hy-Vee is now offering full-service fueling at its stores for free amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company announced the move Tuesday.
The service will be offered at select fuel pumps from at least 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days per week, Hy-Vee said.
Customers who want to use the service will just have to select the pump's "Fuel Help" button or call a designated phone number found on signs at each pump. Customers can also order food and other items from the store to have delivered to their vehicles using the service.
After selecting the service, an employee will meet the customer at their vehicle, process their transaction and fuel order without the customer having to get out of their vehicle, according to the company. Both cash and credit cards are able to be used for payment.
Employees will also be wearing gloves for every customer interaction as an added safety measure.
The service will be in effect at all of Hy-Vee's more than 165 stores across eight states.
