Costco to require face masks in stores starting May 4
Costco announced on Wednesday it was enacting new store policies starting next week to protect employees and customers from the novel coronavirus.
The wholesale retailer stated that starting Monday, May 4, all customers will be required to wear face masks or face coverings at all times while in stores. Some stores will also only be open to customers 60 and older from 9 to10 a.m.
The face-covering requirement does not apply to children younger than 2 years old or people who can't wear a face mask due to a medical condition.
Costco stipulated that the use of a face mask is not a substitute for social distancing.
Other changes that were already in place included limiting two shoppers per membership card, temporarily banning the use of reusable bags and imposing limits on the purchase of certain items.
A full list of COVID-19 policies can be found on Costco's website.
