Minnehaha Academy community holds prayer vigil after explosion

Hundreds of people packed the chapel at the Minnehaha Academy Lower and Middle Schools Wednesday night to prayer service after an explosion at the Upper School.

Donna Harris, Minnehaha Academy’s president, spoke from a wheelchair after being injured during the explosion.

“Tonight is an example of the kind of caring community that you are, and we know that God is in control and he is going to take care of us,” Harris said.

Bethlehem Covenant Church’s lead pastor, Rev. Matt Kennedy, told Minnehaha Academy parents that there will be better days to come after the tragic event Wednesday.

“Shock is the only word that comes to mind, because this has been surreal and there is no other way to say it other than it has been a terrible day,” he said. “but we will come together and we will find God’s grace.”
