Gophers football program reports 15 more positive COVID-19 cases
The University of Minnesota football team announced another 15 positive cases of COVID-19 among its student-athletes and staff on Saturday.
According to a team spokesman, nine student-athletes and six staff members tested positive for the virus since the Gophers’ last update on Wednesday, which revealed 10 positive cases among students and staff. A total of 20 student-athletes and 20 staff members have now tested positive for COVID-19 since Nov. 19.
The football team paused all team-related activities on Tuesday, including the game against Wisconsin that was scheduled for Saturday, after 15 players and staff members tested positive from Nov. 19-23. The Gophers are scheduled to host Northwestern on Dec. 5, but the status of that game remains in doubt.
The team says it is following public health guidelines and that its next update will come on Tuesday.
