Man who died after shooting in Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis identified
The man that died from a gunshot wound in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis Thursday night has been identified as 38-year-old Maurice Sykes Speltz from Minneapolis.
According to the Hennepin County Medical Center, Speltz died from a gunshot wound to the torso and his manner of death is a homicide.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, at about 10:09 p.m., officers were in the area of 26th Street and Bloomington Avenue when they heard the sound of a gunshot. Officers also received notification of a ShotSpotter activation in the area.
Once officers arrived on the scene, they Speltz in the road, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
After learning he was not breathing and a pulse was not detected, officers began CPR and called for paramedics. Speltz was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said no one was in custody in connection with the incident, as of Friday morning.
